1、著名教育家陶行知先生曾提出“生活即教育”的思想，把教育同整个生活、整个社会联系起来，并通过各种社会实践，真正作到“教、学、做合一”[2]。生活决定教育，教育要通过生活才能发出力量而成为真正的教育。这种教学方式改变了现行的教育方式以“学科为中心”“课堂为中心”“教师为中心”的整齐划一、千人一面的弊端，提高了教师、家长对学生的内在潜能开发的认识，并付诸行动。对充分发挥学生的主体作用，激发学生的学习兴趣，增强学生的自信心和社会责任感，具有重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。英语教育同样也是如此，然而当前的英语教育的弊端之一就在于英语教育与学生的现实生活和可能生活脱离，教育没能作用于学生的生活方式，从而丧失了生活和成长的意义。从社会国际化的趋势来看，英语教育是学生通向可能生活的中介，因而，英语教育应该首先成为一种生活化的教育。
